Admission to Teacher Education       

(Application Available online August 4, 2008)
Deadline R1: September 5, 2008
Deadline R2: October 15, 2008


All steps are necessary in order for applications to be considered. The applications are attached below. Candidates may apply if they have completed a minimum of 40 hours of coursework, have passed the OGET, and meet all other requirements. Requirements and procedures may vary slightly from semester to semester.

Application Steps

  • Meet all requirements for Teacher Education at time of application
  • Complete Application
    • Information
    • Major GPA Requirements
    • Teacher Education & Overall GPA Requirements
    • Felony Questionnaire & Accuracy Statement
    • Departmental Advisement Requirements
    • Code of Ethics (if not completed previously)
    • Complete University Approved Release Form and Emergency Contact Information Form
  • Attach
    • UCO Transcript (UConnect transcript or advisor’s copy)
    • Transcripts from other universities if all course work is not listed on the UCO transcript
    • Documentation of experiences working with children (enrollment in PTE 3023 or other)
    • OGET scores
  • Schedule an interview with department chair / program coordinator / or faculty designee
    (documented by signature on the application)
  • Submit admission interview portfolio checkpoint
    The admission interview checkpoint occurs during the interview. Candidates should activate their portfolio prior to the interview and complete the following:
    • After scheduling interview, access the admission interview question document from the e-Portfolio website. This document includes the information to be discussed at the interview.
    • Attach this document to the interview question slot and submit it for assessment to the person conducting your interview.
    For those using a paper portfolio, the portfolio must be brought to the interview.
  • Sign
    • Felony Questionnaire, Accuracy Statement (p. 5)
    • Code of Ethics (if not completed previously)
  • Submit completed application packet to Teacher Education Services, EDU 207 by deadline.

Individual files will be established after receiving your application and will be sent to your departmental faculty advisor for your advisement interview.

 

Admission to Student Teaching/Concurrent

Deadline: September 5, 2008

Candidates planning to student teach during the Fall 2007 semester must complete all steps in order for the application to be considered. The application is attached at the bottom of this page.

  • Attach
    • UCO Transcript (UConnect transcript or advisor’s copy)
    • Transcripts from other universities if all course work is not listed on the UCO transcript
    • Copy of OGET (if not previously submitted) and OSAT score results if available (OSAT may be taken during application semester. It must be passed prior to student teaching)
    • Portfolio Foreign Language verification page (paper portfolios only)
    • Fill out and sign a University Approved Release Form and Emergency Contact Information Form.
  • Submit e-Portfolio Checkpoint
    The electronic portfolio should be up-to-date with all applicable artifacts submitted and assessed prior to student teaching.
    • Submit Credentials and Professionalism: Foreign Language Proficiency documentation to Teacher Education Services for assessment.
    • Submit the Program Checkpoint: Mid-point to your program coordinator and/or faculty designee for assessment. If applicable, reconciliation forms for transfer courses and artifacts should be complete and uploaded.
  • Obtain department chair or designated person's signature on Verification Statements
  • Complete and Sign Felony Questionnaire, Accuracy Statement
  • Code of Ethics (if not completed previously)
  • Submit completed application packet to Teacher Education Services, EDU 207.
  • Sign up and attend mandatory small group meetings
REMEMBER!!!
If you do not submit your teacher education application to EDU 207 by the due date, you will not be allowed to student teach and will have to reapply during the next admission period.
